Summary:

Dometic Marines facility in Pompano Beach, FL manufactures heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration systems for sport fishing, pleasure boats, and commercial markets.

The Electronics Design Engineer is the technical owner responsible for designing, developing and improving a wide variety of climate control products for the Marine industry, including self-contained heat pump units, chiller systems, custom refrigeration and ice-making equipment.
This role is focused primarily on the controls and electrical systems for such equipment specifically the design, development and continuous improvement of the hardware and software required for the aforementioned equipment.

Main responsibilities:

Product Focus

• Electrical / Electronic hardware design, development & improvement
• Firmware / software design, development & improvement
• Product design & development tasks
• Prepare product design documentation for new & existing components & assemblies, including engineering specifications, schematics, drawings, test plans & reports, etc.
  
• Design circuits including schematic capture, component selection, layout, and routing using Altium Designer (or an equivalent electronic CAD program), in accordance with Dometic and ISO9001 requirements and procedures.
  
• Technical owner of the full development cycle, from development requirements analysis, concept design & design verification, through launch industrialization, validation, & production start-up, as well as post-launch product improvement activities
• Ensure compliance to relevant industry & governmental regulations / specifications
• Cross-functional team activities
• Provide technical direction and leadership as part of a cross-functional product development team, led by program management, that includes manufacturing, purchasing/supply chain, sales, quality, etc.
  
• As appropriate, lead / coordinate / support management of offsite resources e.g.
  software development team, test labs, etc.

• As appropriate, lead / coordinate / support project management tasks such as:
  Technical design reviews, BOM management, Make/buy analyses, product cost modeling, development schedules and project reporting
• Oversee validation tests, includingreliability (e.g.
  HALT/HASS), functional (SIL/HIL), and regulatory (e.g.
  EMC, LVD, etc.) testing creating all required test plans, and writing / reviewing / approving reports as appropriate
• Represent Dometic Marine in customer / supplier interactions, including troubleshooting, problem solving, line audits, trade shows, presentations, etc.

Qualifications and experience:

We believe that the ideal candidate has the following qualifications and experiences:

• University or Technical Institute qualifications in Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics or related Engineering discipline.
  
• 5+ years of industry or relevant electronic design experience preferred
• Consumer electronic product design experience and new product development experience, ideally related to automotive, boating and/or safety critical systems
• Proficiency in Altium Designer or equivalent electronic CAD program desired
• Knowledge of microcontroller parameters related to selecting components based on specifications and applications
• Familiarity with electronics hardware manufacturing processes and fabrication capabilities, preferably with ability to audit and improve such processes
• Working knowledge of communication interfaces such as CAN, SPI, I2C, or RS232
• Familiar with HVACR equipment & control systems
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g.
  SAE, ASTM, ABYC, ASHRAE, ISO, NMEA, etc.)
• Familiar with ERP systems to control engineering Bill of Materials
• Familiar with firmware program languages such as C, C++, and assembly for embedded controllers such as Freescale, NXP, and ARM
• Strong proficiency with MS Office programs including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Use of quality & engineering tools / methodologies (e.g.
  PDCA, DFMA, DFMEA, DVP&R, DFSS, etc.) in support of the development process and in accordance with Industry standards & expectations
