New Horizons is the largest mental health and addiction recovery provider on the Treasure Coast (and beyond), serving 15,000 children and adults annually through inpatient crisis services, 24-hour help line and mobile response team, and outpatient programs conveniently located across Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie counties. In addition, New Horizons assists 22,000 students in area schools, and we work closely with the courts, law enforcement, jails, and hospitals to help improve the health of individuals and the quality of life in our community.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsible for all insurance billing process and collection.
Prepares and reviews all insurance billing to ensure required information included with initial claim filed. Maintains a list of insurance company specific requirements for this review and for distribution to staff responsible for obtaining authorizations and eligibility information in order to reduce or prevent denials.
Runs reports to identify any unbilled events and makes necessary corrections to system coding or procedures under the direction of the Patient Accounts Manager.
Prepares, implements, and reports bad debt write off under the direction of the Patient Accounts Manager.
Demonstrates positive customer service skills and professional attitude when dealing with both internal and external customers.
Works closely with Patient Accounts Department staff to maximize efficiency and accuracy of client data.
Promptly responds to all patient account inquiries and related correspondence.
Answers the telephone in a prompt and courteous manner.
Consistently organizes and executes daily tasks in proper priority.
Performs electronic data processing tasks in an efficient and accurate manner.
Exercises care in entering data to prevent incorrect information.
Reviews and monitors all relevant data to be sure it is accurate and up-to-date.
Keeps orderly and accurate logs and records as required and provides Patient Accounts Manager or designee with all requested reports in a timely manner.
Performs other duties as requested.
Miscellaneous duties are performed according to instruction.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's degree (Associate of Applied Science) with two year experience or High school diploma or equivalent with 3 years medical billing/accounts receivable experience. Must have strong computer skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary-Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
Occasional walking or standing.
Remaining in a seated position for an extended period.
Standing or walking-Standing is to remain on one's feet in an upright position at various times to assist clients or staff.
Lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs.
Pushing or pulling up to 20 lbs.
Reaching overhead to move supplies.
The work requires visual acuity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; to utilize computer systems; extensive reading.
Works in an air-conditioned environment.
