WHAT YOULL DO
Much of the magic delivered from our products is the result of our controls system.
As our Principal Controls Development Engineer, youll play a pivotal role in developing, testing, and implementing the electronic controls systems for Seakeeper Ride.
Youll make an immediate impact on our product by:

Developing controls algorithms aimed at improving current performance and introducing new products/features
Working with our custom tools that include embedded hardware, Simulink-based auto code IDE (SeaCoder), and Hardware in the Loop (HIL) infrastructure to develop cutting-edge controls algorithms
Driving innovative algorithm solutions from concept to embedded code by designing models and implementing them, analyzing data, and optimizing performance
Designing and implementing control algorithms in MATLAB and Simulink to meet high-level functional requirements
Constructing algorithms and generating C/C++ code using Simulink
Analyzing data collected during testing in MATLAB and Simulink and making data-driven conclusions to suggest next steps and go-to-market plans
Being the first line of defense in testing control algorithms both on custom simulation as well as on test boats on the water
Creating and maintaining detailed documentation of control systems designs, specifications, and test results
Presenting findings and recommendations to management and stakeholders
Participating in software development items on Seakeepers custom tools (embedded hardware, Siumlink-based auto code IDE (SeaCoder) and HIL)
Leading and mentoring a small team of control engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration
Developing and implementing best practices for control system development and testing
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

MUST-HAVES
Bachelors degree in Controls Systems, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
10+ years of relevant professional work experience in control theory
Proficiency in control theory, simulation & analysis tools (e.
g.
, MATLAB/Simulink), and programming (e.
, C/C++, Python)
Demonstrated ability to innovate unique algorithms that improve system performance, coupled with a strong understanding of closed-loop control systems utilizing IMUs
Prior experience in developing controls algorithms on complex mechatronic systems
Be comfortable being hands-on with the product (its going to be dirty sometimes!)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges
Capable of thinking systematically and documenting processes, procedures, and test results
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
NICE-TO-HAVES
Masters degree in Controls Systems, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
Holds patent(s) in control systems algorithms (please provide patent numbers or documentation as applicable)
8+ years of experience in control systems with proficiency in developing algorithms for various applications in automotive, aerospace or robotics industry
Knowledge of embedded systems, and software development
Experience working in R&D developing, testing, and bringing new products to market

Youll be based in our Ft.
Myers, FL facility 5 day a week
Youll report to the VP of Engineering, also based in FL
This role is 80% technical individual contributor with the remainder of the time dedicated to team management
YOUR TEAM
Our Controls Engineering team is nestled within our Engineering organization.
It is a small, but mighty team that covers a lot of ground.
It is a flat team, managing projects through an Agile workflow that allows maximum exposure to a variety of projects and systems within the group.
The team is comprised of engineers with varying backgrounds and specialties including hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, software, controls and more with a heavy emphasis on collaboration.
Youll be able to be involved in a myriad of projects and participate in program management instead of only owning a small defined piece of the process.
