Century Aluminum presents the opportunity to join our Shared Services team, supporting our North American operations, as a Financial Analyst.
Century Aluminum Company is a global producer of primary aluminum and operates aluminum reduction facilities in the United States and Iceland.
We operate two U.S.
aluminum smelters, in Robards, Kentucky (Sebree) and Goose Creek, South Carolina (Mt.
Holly), and one smelter in Grundartangi, Iceland (Grundartangi).
Our primary aluminum facilities produce standard grade and value-added primary aluminum products.
The Financial Analyst's primary responsibilities include ownership of property tax and sales/use tax processing and filing for North American operations, including preparation of Form 1099 and Form 1042.
This role serves as a subject matter expert for property and sales/use tax and will field questions from various business functions, including procurement, AP and operational accounting.
The financial analyst is also responsible for creating, maintaining and reporting of fixed assets and performance of various other accounting duties.
A strong candidate will have experience working in an accounting department and be able to demonstrate knowledge of accounting concepts, have superior attention to detail and possess a desire to learn and grow with a publicly traded, global company.
Salary will be commensurate with prior experience in accounting and/or tax related topics.

This role is based from our Owensboro, KY location but will support all Century Aluminum facilities.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Prepare property taxes for all domestic Century entities
Responsible for creation, maintaining and reporting of fixed assets using SAP and Sage software.
Prepare monthly filings of Sales and Use tax for all domestic Century entities
Prepare 1099s and 1042s
Assist with tax audits (property, sales & use, and unclaimed property)
Monitor multi-state sales tax requirements on vendor invoices ensuring proper sales & use tax is paid and/or calculated
Prepare various month-end accrual journal entries and account reconciliations
Backup for Sr.
Financial Analyst (A/R duties)
Ad-hoc Responsibilities supporting the Shared Services Team
Minimum Education/Abilities/Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
required.
MAcc or MPAC preferred.
The candidate should be able to easily demonstrate and articulate previous experience with applying accounting concepts/rules.
3 - 5 years of experience in a manufacturing accounting environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
Previous experience with sales and use tax/property tax strongly preferred.
Experience with SAP and SAGE preferred
Working knowledge of MS Office products (Excel, Word & Outlook)
Must have excellent organizational skills due to a fast paced, high-volume environment with strict deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; superior attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout Company organization
Exceptional customer service skills
Must be flexible, a team player and have the ability to work independently
Strong sense of professionalism and accountability
