Emergency Medicine Advanced Practice Trainee Program (EMAT)
Brown Emergency Medicine (Brown EM) is the academic emergency medicine physician practice plan of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Brown EM provides emergency department staffing for Rhode Island Hospital, the only Level I trauma center in this region; Hasbro Children's Hospital, Rhode Island's only children's specialty hospital; The Miriam Hospital, a leading community teaching hospital and Newport Hospital, a community Magnet Hospital. Brown EM member physicians and providers treat over 250,000 patients per year at our clinical sites, drawing patients from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. As a non-profit foundation, Brown EM is committed to its mission and vision of academic and research support. Brown EM is looking for a full-time Emergency Medicine Advanced Practice Trainee (EMAT) who is either a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant. Applications will be accepted through 2/1/2025.

Program Overview:
A 12-month post graduate training program directed by Brown EM faculty and senior advanced practitioners to support a comprehensive emergency medicine program.
The program utilizes four hospitals as sites for orientation, training, and clinical rotations for newly graduated or non-emergency medicine trained advanced practitioners. All four sites are affiliated with the Alpert Medical School of Brown University, Brown University Health, and are teaching facilities.

Certificate from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program

Program Content
During the Development year, EMATs receive training:
Five to ten hours of didactic conferences each week with Brown EM Residents
Hands-on training at various Emergency Departments, working with appointed faculty
Procedure workshops and lectures provided by senior physicians and appointed faculty
