About the job:
• Conduct initial and follow-up patient assessments, including physical exams, medical history, and diagnostic evaluations.
• Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic conditions in patients, under the guidance of the supervising physician.
• Prescribe medications, therapies, and other treatments as needed, adhering to state and federal regulations.
• Educate patients and families on preventive health practices, medication instructions, lifestyle modifications, and treatment plans.
• Order, interpret, and monitor diagnostic tests, such as lab work and imaging, to support accurate diagnosis and treatment.
• Work closely with physicians and medical staff to coordinate patient care and provide high-quality treatment.
• Document patient interactions, treatment plans, and progress accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
• Assist with minor procedures, injections, wound care, and other medical interventions within the NP's scope of practice.
• Conduct routine wellness visits and screenings to support preventive care initiatives.
• Stay current on best practices and continuing education to maintain certification and clinical competency.
Qualifications:
Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with Nurse Practitioner (NP) specialization
State licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with NP certification
Board certification in a specialty area (e.g., Family Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner)
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certified
General Purpose:
A Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides primary and specialty healthcare services to individuals and families, often with a focus on prevention, wellness, and disease management. NPs conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, prescribe medications, and order diagnostic tests. They practice autonomously or in collaboration with other healthcare providers and are found in a range of settings such as hospitals, clinics, and private practices. Nurse Practitioners emphasize patient-centered care and play a crucial role in promoting health literacy and preventive care, often serving as primary healthcare providers in many communities.
