Job Goal: To provide students with disabilities, who qualify for supports and services, occupational therapy treatment.

Job Qualifications:

1. Applicants must meet State of Delaware license requirements as an Occupational Therapist as determined by the Board of Occupational Therapy Practice.
2. Prior experience working in a school system, preferred.
3. Experience working with students with a range of disabilities including autism and intellectual disabilities.
4. Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
5. Ability to prioritize an organized schedule.

1. Provide direct (individual and group) and indirect (consult) services related to fine motor skills and sensory needs, as identified in the IEP/504 plan.
2. Develop and implement feeding and oral-motor programs.
3. Administer occupational therapy assessments in areas such as fine/gross motor, sensory processing, visual motor and visual perception skills, self-care skills/activities of daily living, social skills, and executive functioning.
4. Write assessment reports identifying the student's needs and proposed treatment strategies.
5. Develop IEP goals and treatment plans, as part of a collaborative team.
6. Attend and participate in IEP meetings.
7. Identify equipment and tools to support students and obtain quotes for purchase, when needed.
8. Consult with staff and deliver services using a variety of assistive technology and positioning equipment (i.e., sitting/standing equipment, special feeding equipment, writing utensils, AAC etc.).
9. Provide sensory motor integration strategies.
10. Maintain data collection related to occupational therapy goals.
11. Conduct student observations and provide strategies to facilitate the student's full participation.
12. Reduce barriers that limit student participation within the school environment.
13. Utilize assistive technology to support student success.
14. Develop benchmarks and annual goals to be part of the IEP and complete progress monitoring and reporting.
15. Complete necessary documentation for Medicaid Cost Recovery.
16. Comply with policies, regulations and procedures of the school district and building; communicate effectively with parents and work collaboratively with staff.
17. Display high level professional conduct and image at all times; establish and maintain an acceptable attendance record; and participate in extra-curricular activities and/or leadership roles.
18. Continue to grow as a professional with classes/workshops for professional development in specific areas of interest and/or need and coaching and feedback from administrators and peers.
19. Perform other duties and/or complete special projects as assigned.
