PRIMARY FUNCTION:

To assist the Nurse Manager in the overall administrative direction for the clinical and operational practice of nursing and delivery of patient care in ChristianaCare HomeHealth, an ANCC Magnet® designated unit/practice area. Shares 24-hour responsibility and accountability for all aspects of daily operational activity with the Nurse Manager.

Daily contact with nursing personnel, patients, family members, employees, medical/dental staff, insurance providers, community partners, volunteers and students. Contact at various time intervals with community agencies and companies, media and other healthcare organizations as well as the general public.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of public relations principles and practices
  • Knowledge of administrative concepts, labor relations and management processes
  • Knowledge of the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses
  • Knowledge of the ANCC Magnet® Model components of Transformational Leadership (TL), Structural
  • Empowerment (SE), Exemplary Professional Practice (EP), New Knowledge, Innovations & Improvements (NK), and Emperical Outcomes (EO).
  • Knowledge of Relationship Based Care Model for Patient Care Delivery
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and techniques
  • Knowledge of department policies, procedures and operations
  • Knowledge of appropriate chain of command
  • Knowledge of ChristianaCare Human Resources management and employee resources
  • Knowledge of software programs (Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint)
  • Knowledge of ChristianaCare computer systems
  • Skill in written and verbal communication
  • Skill in interpersonal relations
  • Ability to apply ChristianaCare Core Values to daily activities
  • Ability to reason, prioritize, problem solve and identify problems

Hours: 8a.m.- 4:30p.m. Monday - Friday

On call rotation, every other week as required, since we operate 7 days a week.

Work Location: Mostly in New Castle County area and main office is in Smyrna, DE.

(Supervisory visits in New Castle County area and probably Northern Kent County area)

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • BLS Certification
  • Professional certification in a related nursing specialty recommended.
  • Current nursing licensure in the State of Delaware or compact state.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Completed Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Master's Degree in a nursing preferred.
