Your role in helping us shape the future:

U.S. News empowers everyone to thrive. We are looking for an enthusiastic Software Team Lead with an interest in building dynamic, data-driven products. You will lead a team of developers dedicated to one of our consumer or B2B product teams and would be responsible for the success of many of their technology projects.

The developers at U.S. News have a great deal of independence and a minimum of overhead. By leveraging React.js, Python, AWS cloud, Google BigQuery, data science and other latest technologies, you'll be driving a major transformation within U.S. News.

This position requires comfort working hands-on with frontend and backend web technologies. Our developers thrive in a collaborative environment but also excel at solving challenges independently. We use many different technologies and operate in many different environments, and we work together with designers, analysts, stakeholders, and testers to build products as efficiently and effectively as possible. We also believe in perpetual self-improvement, and expect our employees to continue to work towards developing their own skills and the skills of those around them.

As a team lead, you will be:

Responsible for a team of developers working with one of our verticals
Advise the product managers, mentor and manage your developers
Make code architecture decisions, keep your team organized and focused, and keep your projects on track
Manage the team and be a contributing member of the development team.

Position RequirementsYou should definitely have:

Minimum eight years of similar or related experience inclusive of 5+ years of experience in a web development role
A Bachelor's degree from U.S. accredited institution, preferred
Modern JavaScript frameworks, such as React
Web styling with CSS preprocessors or CSS-in-JS
Modern JavaScript patterns and ES6
Server-side technologies, such as Python, Java, or NodeJS
Databases, such as PostgreSQL
Unix-based operating systems, such as Linux or Mac OS X, along with the shells and command-line tools available in those environments
Version control, such as Git

It would be nice if you had:

Technical leadership or other personnel management
CICD pipelines such as Jenkins
Cloud environments such as AWS
Data ingestion/transformation

The anticipated base salary for this position is $100,000 to $140,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, interview performance, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
