JOB OVERVIEW
Counseling & Psychological Services ( CAPS ) works collaboratively with students to provide compassionate, comprehensive, and inclusive mental health services that foster emotional and personal development. Through counseling, outreach, campus partnerships, and education and training, we engage with the entire GW community to promote a campus culture of holistic well-being.
CAPS is seeking an empathetic, collaborative, and skilled clinician with high integrity to join our positive team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in both clinical practice and advocacy, with a commitment to promoting equity, accessibility, and student well-being.
The Senior Staff Clinician - Accessibility and Advocacy will provide direct clinical services to GW students within the Student Health Center's Counseling and Psychological Services ( CAPS ). These services include:

Initial consultations, individual counseling, group counseling, referrals, crisis and on call, and coordination of care. Approx. 18-20 clinical hours a week, and more as needed.
Maintain thorough, accurate and timely clinical documentation in EHR according to established protocols.
Outreach services to meet the mental health needs of the University community, including academic support programs, educational workshops, personal skill development groups, consultation and training programs for faculty and staff.
Training, education, and supervision for CAPS' trainees and staff.
In addition to these general clinical duties, this role will focus on student accessibility and advocacy. In this capacity, the Senior Staff Clinician - Accessibility and Advocacy will:

Liaise with and/or supervise student groups focused on mental health, e.g., the Student Government Association's Mental Health Assembly; Peer education programs.
Continually assess accessibility of CAPS (e.g., forms, languages offered, spaces, etc.) and make recommendations to improve the student experience.
Collaborate with and serve as main point of contact for Disability Support Services ( DSS ).
Keep abreast of national trends and laws that may impact our students, and help educate staff on these in order to provide culturally competent care.
Aid in Program Development based on trends, research, and best practices for students.
The position is based at GW's Foggy Bottom's Campus in Washington, DC.
The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold an advanced degree in a mental health discipline (psychology, social work, or counseling), plus two (2) years of relevant professional experience. Licensed in Washington, D.C. or eligibility for Washington, D.C. clinical license within six months of hire.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
License in an appropriate area of mental health, including either license to practice in the District of Columbia or ability to obtain a license for the District of Columbia.
One year of applied clinical experience in counseling.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working clinically with undergraduate and graduate college students.
Demonstrate ability to assess and evaluate policies, collect and analyze survey data, and have innovative solutions to current mental health concerns.
Hiring Range $64,483.58 - $106,415.52
