JOB SUMMARY

Position directs and works with human resource employees on recruitment, total compensation, employee relations and training and development. Executes against objectives outlined in the Human Resource Business Plan and delivers services that meet or exceed the needs of employees and enable business success. Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations as well as Standard Operating Procedures.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience:

  1. High school diploma or GED; 3 years experience in the human resources, management operations, or related professional area.
  2. OR
  3. 2-year degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related major; 1 year experience in the human resources, management operations, or related professional area.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Managing Legal and Compliance Practices:

  1. Ensures terminated employee files are retained for the required length of time.
  2. Ensures compliance on all human resource audits.
  3. Ensures proper documentation of all progressive disciplinary action is kept in employee file.
  4. Ensures compliance with key policies (e.g., Sexual Harassment, Non-Harassment, Non-Discrimination, No Solicitation).
  5. Works with the unemployment services provider to respond to unemployment claims.
  6. Attends unemployment hearings and ensures property is properly represented.
  7. Ensures employees are treated fairly and equitably.
  8. Ensures Guarantee of Fair Treatment policy is consistently followed and proper documentation is maintained on all disciplinary issues.
  9. Administers property policies fairly and consistently.
  10. Ensures disciplinary procedures and documentation are completed according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs) and support the Peer Review Process.

Managing Human Resources Communication:

  1. Communicates changes to the benefit plans in a timely manner.
  2. Communicates property rules and regulations via an employee handbook.
  3. Coaches managers on progressive discipline process.

Managing Staffing and Employee Development Activities:

  1. Participates in the interviewing and hiring of Human Resources employee team members.
  2. Ensures performance evaluations and merit increase paperwork are maintained in employee files.
  3. Manages performance appraisal process (e.g., ensures reviews are conducted in a timely manner, increases are processed quickly, and management performance appraisal is completed).

Maintaining Employee Relations:

  1. Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with employees.
  2. Utilizes an open door policy to address employee problems or concerns in a timely manner.
  3. Ensures effective employee communication channels are established and active in departments.
  4. Strives to improve employee retention.
  5. Monitors work environment for signs of union organization.
  6. Solicits employee feedback.
  7. Organizes Spirit to Serve Our Communities events.

The salary range for this position is $133,000 to $163,000 annually.
