Intern Position Summary

The Data Services Intern will work with the Data Services Office, led by the Chief Data Officer (CDO). The Data Services Office is dedicated to establishing and enforcing data governance policies, ensuring data quality, and enhancing data integration across the organization's systems. The office focuses on optimizing data management processes, from classification and stewardship to risk assessment and cataloging. With a commitment to supporting state financial regulation, the office plays a pivotal role in aligning data strategy with regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and the organization's broader mission. Collaborating closely with empowered data stewards and a data management board, the office aims to foster a data-driven culture that maximizes the value of information assets while safeguarding data integrity and privacy.

Essential Functions

Data Stewardship Support:
Assist in managing data classification, integration, and dissemination processes across the organization's 16 systems.

Golden Records Implementation:
Collaborate with data stewards in the reconciliation and maintenance of golden records to ensure data accuracy and integrity.

Data Cataloging:
Support the implementation of a data cataloging tool.

Presentation Development:
Create detailed presentations on data management practices and their impact on operational efficiency and cost avoidance.

Education and Experience

Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience in data management tools and platforms, and an understanding of data classification and integration principles.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data management concepts clearly.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with attention to detail and timelines.

Collaborate effectively with diverse teams, including data stewards, IT staff, and other stakeholders.

Knowledge of the intersection of data management and state financial regulation.

Ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and generate actionable insights.

Requirements

Due to the nature of CSBS's business in support of state financial services supervision, all CSBS employees have the potential of interacting with confidential information related to the supervision of financial services companies ("Confidential Supervisory Information"). As a result, in addition to general business conflicts of interest, all CSBS employees are expected to disclose conflicts of interest in financial services companies on at least an annual basis and to proactively avoid such conflicts.

Protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of CSBS information and information systems in accordance with CSBS policies and procedures.
