Description

We are seeking a data engineer to support our data engineering and analytics team. The purpose of this role is to ensure that data products are designed, created, and delivered in a timely manner with high quality.

The ideal candidate for the role of Data Engineer should possess a strongly experienced background in data engineering and related technologies such as SQL scripting and programming, data modeling, Python programming, Snowflake and Databricks data platforms, SQL Server, data lakes, schema change management, and version control.

This role is remote but may require occasional travel to the Corporate office in Denver, CO. The position reports to the Data Manager.

Principal Job Duties:
Develop extract, transform, load (ETL) applications leveraging technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, Python, DBT, and others.
Perform technical research, data profiling, and testing of data assumptions in data sources and in current data products.
Creatively provide technical data solutions that will solve business problems and enable analytics teams to build reports and explore data efficiently and quickly.
Perform dimensional data modeling and design database objects for ease of access, performance, and consistency.
Work with business stakeholders on data and reporting requirements and translate those requirements into technical solutions.
Explain data concepts, reports, KPIs, and other technical subjects in business terms.
Document development standards, KPI calculations, business glossary terms, table diagrams, and other subjects related to NSA data or reports.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent related work experience
4+ years of technical experience in data warehouse development, design, and modeling
Strong understanding of data modeling concepts in data warehousing
At least one year of experience with Python specifically to manipulate, extract, and work with data
Strong SQL skills
Experience extracting data from REST APIs
Experience with relational database systems, preferably Microsoft SQL Server
Cloud administration experience on data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or SQL Server is a plus
Excellent communication skills and ability to document software requirements and functionality for various audiences

Compensation Range: $90,000 - $120,000
