Position Summary:

As a Physical Therapist, you will evaluate patients' functions and select appropriate treatments to enhance or restore their abilities. You will engage in an interdisciplinary approach, contributing to community education and clinical training for students. Cross-site coverage may also be a responsibility.

Education/Certification:

Must be a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program with at least a B.S. degree.
Hold a current Connecticut Physical Therapy license.

Competencies:

Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
Proficient in using Windows-based software for departmental tasks.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is beneficial, but not mandatory.
Access to reliable transportation for travel between work sites is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Evaluate patients according to departmental standards.
Customize evaluations based on individual symptoms and activity levels, setting measurable goals.
Administer appropriate therapeutic exercises to improve strength, endurance, coordination, and mobility.
Utilize physical agents and manual therapies to alleviate pain and achieve goals.
Implement effective techniques to enhance motor activity and learning.
Educate patients and families on home exercise programs to promote independence.
Assess when a patient has reached treatment goals to recommend discharge if suitable.
Document treatments per insurance guidelines and adhere to departmental policies.
Foster communication with interdisciplinary teams and referring physicians regarding patient care.
Accurately document charges on a daily basis.
Maintain a professional code of ethics as defined by the APTA.
Perform duties using proper body mechanics and safety standards.
Supervise at least one student each year.
Attend continuing education courses to refine treatment techniques.
Participate in departmental or community service activities as documented.
