Position Overview:
As a Driver for food and food service delivery, you play a vital role in ensuring the food supply chain operates smoothly. You'll be responsible for timely and safe delivery of products while building lasting customer relationships. This role involves driving a tractor-trailer or straight truck to deliver and unload food-related products under Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Drivers engage professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers while ensuring timely communication and resolution of inquiries. As a key team member, your contributions matter in serving the company effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct safety checks (pre/post trip) on vehicles in accordance with DOT regulations.
Report safety issues and required repairs promptly.
Ensure freight is correctly loaded and secured.
Perform count checks and verify customer invoices for loaded products.
Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and legibly.
Drive to deliver customer orders as per the established route.
Unload products and transport them to designated storage areas.
Perform damage control checks on items and consult with supervisors as necessary.
Verify delivery with customers and obtain proper signatures.
Secure all freight, tractor, and trailer as required.
Unload damaged goods and customer returns, following procedures for returns.
Maintain accurate logs of service hours in compliance with the Federal DOT, state, and company standards.
Keep the loading dock area and trailers clean and organized.
Carry out other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience.
Valid CDL-A and must be 21 years or older.
At least 6 months of CMV driving experience.
Meet state licensing and certification requirements.
Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
Pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
Successfully complete a road test.
Possess or obtain a valid DOT Health Card.
Able to lift and transport products weighing from 10 to 90 pounds.
