Technology Support Specialist

Under the general supervision of the Senior Network and Systems Support Administrator, the Technology Support Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing the user experience by delivering comprehensive technical assistance and effectively resolving issues related to software, hardware, and network connectivity. This position involves managing user accounts, including the creation, modification, and deactivation of accounts, to ensure appropriate access levels and permissions for all users. The Technology Support Specialist is responsible for deploying, updating, and managing software applications in alignment with town needs while prioritizing security standards. Effective inventory control is essential, as the specialist tracks and manages technology assets, which encompass devices, peripherals, and software licenses. Additionally, this role assists in the production of town livestream events and is the technical lead on all town websites, with a focus on accessibility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Technical Support:
Provide technical assistance to address issues related to software, hardware, and network connectivity.
Manage and prioritize support tickets, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues related to computers, printers, and other IT equipment.
Assist end-users with technology use and configuration.
Support and manage computers and related peripherals.
Provide first level technical support to staff via phone, Teams, email, and in-person.
Software Management:
Deploy, update, and manage software applications used by staff to meet town needs and maintain security.
Manage access permissions to network resources, applications, and data.
Maintain up-to-date software versions and patches to address security vulnerabilities and improve performance.
Manage software licenses and ensure compliance with licensing agreements.
Inventory Control:
Track and manage assets, including devices, peripherals, and software licenses.
Assist in deploying new equipment, ensuring compliance with town technology standards.
Video Production:
Leads the production of all town live streaming events.
Assists in post-production editing in conjunction with communications staff.
Ensures all technology related to streaming is functional and up to date.
Website Management:
Maintains and updates all the town web pages on a regular and as needed basis.
Ensures all web resources meet the accessibility standards laid out in HB21-1110, or future laws and regulations.
Assigns appropriate security roles to users who need to access the websites.
Supports town staff in engaging the public through the town website.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Familiarity with website management tools (e.g., WordPress, HTML/CSS) is a plus.
Basic knowledge of video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro).
Basic knowledge of cyber security best practices, certifications a plus.
Understanding web accessibility principles is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to learn new technologies.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Reading comprehension to understand technical and legal materials.
Ability to multi-task many variable duties and responsibilities.
Ability to manage projects effectively and meet firm deadlines.
Ability to pass post-offer background checks.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
COMPTIA Certifications preferred (A+, Network+, Security+) preferred
1-3 years of progressively responsible experience in a technology support role
