DescriptionWe are hiring for one full-time Athletics Program Coordinator to join our Recreation team. CCOB Mission Statement:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Athletics Program Coordinator to join our team! The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of scheduling youth and adult athletic programs, leagues and tournaments, as well as working knowledge of the techniques, principles, rules, and regulations governing various recreation activities, programs, and events. Familiarity with the equipment, facilities, operations, and techniques used in community recreation programs is essential. Candidates should excel at collaborating with staff and volunteers, understanding and responding to customer needs, and enforcing safety practices and procedures.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.

May require nights, weekends and holidays as needed.

The Athletics Program Coordinator performs professional recreation work in a variety of activities in a recreation facility or other recreation program areas and providing information and assistance to City and County staff and the public. Works as part of a collaborative, innovative and resilient work culture.

General Duties:

  • Teaches, officiates and evaluates a variety of youth and adult sports as needed. Enforces sport specific rules and regulations. May be responsible for registering participants, collecting fees, acquiring and scheduling coaches and assigning practice/game times. Schedule and run various tournaments, leagues and events.
  • Develops, coordinates, schedules, implements, supervises and evaluates a variety of recreational programs, activities special events and facilities. Includes modifying programs based on skills and abilities as well as evaluating the assigned recreation programs and recommending areas for improvement.
  • Prepares program materials, equipment, first aid kits and other necessary items. May be asked to instruct designated recreation classes according to program curriculum and philosophy.
  • Responsible for the safety of self, staff, participants and volunteers as well as the proper use and care of materials, equipment, and facilities used. Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents.
  • Assists with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating and supervising staff.
  • Evaluates service costs and makes related recommendations. Identifies and recommends improvements in divisional and departmental operations to ensure assigned functions are efficient and cost effective.
Minimum QualificationsTraining:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in parks, recreation, sports administration, or a closely related field. Preference is given for individuals with an emphasis in the specific program area. (Athletics)

Experience:

Two years recreation programming experience preferably in the specific program area.

Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be 18 years or older. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record for continued employment. New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: oral board, reference checks, background checks including local police check and sex-offender registry.
  • If this position is required to drive a CCOB vehicle a DMV check will be required.
  • Must possess and maintain valid AED, First Aid and CPR Certifications within 90 days of hire.

  • Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday including some evening, weekend and holiday hours.
  • Physical demands are described as medium (exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. )
  • Frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The noise level in the environment is quiet to moderate depending on the program area.
