PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESOVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENT
The Support Specialist of Special Victims Unit performs a variety of clerical duties. This position supports the SVU Sergeant and their staff.

The hiring range for this position is $27. 00 - $33. 75 hourly. This posting will be available until January 27th, 2025 at 11:59pm. If we receive a sufficient pool of candidates, this job annoucement may close earlier than the posted time.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Shares information and tasks with rotating personnel in the specific unit
Schedule and coordination of internal and external needs per specific Unit requirements or group meetings
Assist specific unit members in case updates and closures
Monitor inventory and supplies and update Command Specialist
Sort and distribute mail and packages
Transcribes from dictation and transcription of entities in Versadex for Detectives
Prepares information for internal purposes that may be used for outside presentation at meetings or trials
Obtain Dispatch 911/Radio Audio and body cam items for Detectives
Obtain NCIC/CCIC information
Process and final closure of detective unit cases
Notary for the unit cases filings
Maintain on-call schedules for their units
Support detectives with equipment and program needs
Receives and responds to requests for information
Performs other related duties as assigned

UNIT SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Community outreach and follow up for those over the age of 70 or those that have been diagnosed with an IDD
Work with officers, county social workers, and citizens concerning CARES referrals/intakes

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education:

High school diploma or GED

Experience:

2 years of general clerical experience including data entry and customer service experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a judicial or law enforcement environment

Knowledge:

Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of office practices and procedures
Manual and computer filing systems
Advanced knowledge of business English, spelling and math
General office equipment, and personal computer with related software applications

Skills:

Efficiently and accurately key information using a keyboard and skills in performing data entry
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Composition grammar and spelling
Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, report generation and maintenance of databases.

Abilities:

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and citizens
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Understand oral and written instructions
Handle stressful situations with tact and diplomacy
Work well under pressure and meet deadlines with little supervision
Work independently
Maintain confidentiality
Understand, interpret, and apply department or division policy and procedures
Plan, organize, and prioritize work assignments

Licenses and Certifications Required:

CCIC/NCIC Clearance
Notary Certificate

WORKING CONDITIONS

Occasional Standing/Walking- Occurs up to 31 minutes to 2. 5 hours per shift

Essential Personnel:

When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.

Physical Demands:

Medium work that involves moving no more than 40 pounds with or without assistance at a time

Frequent lifting, carrying, walking and standing
Hand/eye coordination to operate computer keyboard
Vision to read and interpret reports, documents and other written information
Frequent speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens

Work Environment:

Works primarily in clean, comfortable office/cubicle environment with shared equipment

Equipment Used:

Frequently uses computer keyboard and telephone, fax machines, and copier
This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e. g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc. ) in the course of their employment
