Rural Communities And Economies In Eastern ColoradoRocky Mountain PBSIn late July and early August of 2024, five local newsrooms in Colorado shuttered:
the Plainsman Herald, the Burlington Record, the Lamar Ledger, the Fort Morgan Times, and the Brush News-Tribune. All were in Eastern Colorado, significantly expanding the news deserts in this rural region of the state. The Rural Communities Journalist will help fill this critical and widening coverage gap by establishing a beat that encompasses eastern plains communities currently lacking local news outlets.
Salary and Benefits:
Senior Multimedia Journalist with 8-plus years of experience:
$71,000-$95,000
Multimedia Journalist III with 6-7 years of experience:
$64,000-$85,000
Our benefits package includes health, dental and vision care; a 403(b) retirement plan with the employer's up to 3% match of the employee's contributions; supplemental life insurance; a flexible spending account; vacation time off; sick leave; 10 paid holidays; and 2 personal paid holidays annually.
This position will be:
Hybrid (some days in the office per week)
Moving Stipend:
Rocky Mountain Public Media does not have a policy of providing moving stipends to new employees, but the Rocky Mountain PBS newsroom may seek special approval to offer our corps member a need-based moving stipend.
