Campaign for Justice Director
Location: Portland, Lewiston, Augusta, Bangor, Presque Isle, or Machias; Hybrid Remote
Pine Tree Legal Assistance is seeking a creative and zealous development professional to lead the Campaign for Justice's annual fundraising campaign. The Campaign for Justice recently marked its 20th year of supporting civil legal aid in Maine through a collective fundraising model. We are seeking a Campaign Director who is excited to use their creativity and relationship building skills to guide the Campaign for Justice into its next phase of growth.
The Campaign for Justice is a joint fundraising campaign raising essential operating support from Maine's legal community for six civil legal aid programs in Maine. In 2023, the Campaign for Justice raised over $600,000 for Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic, Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project, Legal Services for Maine Elders, Maine Equal Justice, Pine Tree Legal Assistance, and Volunteer Lawyers Project.
The Campaign Director is responsible for executing the annual campaign and developing strategies for meeting ambitious fundraising goals, leading a team of volunteers, and working collaboratively with staff from the six civil legal aid programs to implement their collective vision for the joint fundraising campaign.
The Campaign for Justice Director should have experience operating fundraising campaigns, soliciting funds from major donors, and recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, enjoy collaborating with others, and be motivated by the organizations' missions.
This position can be based in any of Pine Tree's six offices with a strong preference for the Portland office, and with options for hybrid remote work. This position will report to Pine Tree Legal Assistance's Development Director.
Essential Job Functions:
Execute the annual fundraising plan.
Work closely with Pine Tree's Development Director to update the annual fundraising plan with specific goals, targets, and tactics to increase the Campaign's revenue over time.
Work closely with the Campaign Chair(s) and lead a team of volunteers to execute the annual solicitation plan, including soliciting contributions from individuals, law firms and corporations.
Collaborate with development colleagues from partner legal aid organizations to develop and execute an annual donor communications plan that includes an annual report, e-newsletter, and social media content.
Meet routinely with stakeholders, including leadership from partner legal aid organizations, and communicate regularly about Campaign operations and decisions.
Contribute to the further development of systems and operations that support our bold fundraising program.
Develop thorough knowledge of the work of each partner legal aid organization and maintain a close relationship with each one.
Support the Peter DeTroy Award Committee in the selection of an annual honoree and plan the annual celebratory event.
Manage donor and donation data in our fundraising software and prepare donation acknowledgements.
Manage time and priorities in an effective manner.

Computer proficiency in MS Office.
Ability to learn new software platforms.
Experience with databases, website management, social media platforms, email marketing is preferred.
Exemplary interpersonal skills.
Three to five years of fundraising experience is preferred.
Desire to contribute to and maintain Pine Tree's high standards for excellence.
Applicant must reside in, or be willing to relocate to, the state of Maine. This is an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Applications submitted by November 18th, 2024, will receive priority for review.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for PTLA attorneys and other exempt staff is currently $67,140- $104,140, depending on experience.
