Scientist Chemical Synthesis needed for a contract opportunity with Yoh Scientific's client located in Pleasanton, CA.

This position is for a molecular diagnostics manufacturer and the team is looking for candidates with MS or PhD with a strong background in chemical synthesis and preparative purification methods.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5:30 pm.

Responsibilities
The incumbent will be working on synthesizing, characterizing, and formulating novel compounds. The incumbent will be operating chemical laboratory ware and analytical instrumentation, handling chemicals, analyzing data, creating presentation, and reporting to the emulsion chemistry group.
The candidate will synthesize, characterize, and formulate solutions of novel compounds.
The candidate will handle chemical laboratory ware in a safe and efficient manner.
The candidate will be responsible for conducting experiments, analyzing and interpreting data, as well as communicating and presenting results to team-members and management.

Qualifications
Education: MS or PhD. Postdoctoral training is a plus.
Work Experience: none for applicants with PhD, 2 years for candidates with MS
Strong background in chemical synthesis and preparative purification methods.
Experience handling moisture-sensitive chemical reagents and reactions.
Strong background on methods for molecular characterization (13C-,1H- & 19F-NMR, FT-IR, UV-Vis, mass spectrometry etc.)
Capable to thrive in a multi-disciplinary setting while working alongside cross functional teams.
Willing to design, execute and analyze experiments on aggressive schedules in a rapidly changing environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, logical and analytical thinking, ability to multitask, work independently and on a team, and the ability to learn, troubleshoot, and problem solve.

Contract: 6-month contract with potential for extension and/or conversion.
Salary : $45- $50 per hour depending on experience, W2.
