Bus Matron

Job Summary
The School Bus Matron plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students during their transportation to and from school. This position involves assisting the bus driver in managing student behavior, providing support to children with special needs, and ensuring a safe and positive environment on the bus. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, responsible, and possess strong communication skills.

Responsibilities
Assist the bus driver in monitoring student behavior to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
Help students board and exit the bus safely, especially those with special needs or mobility challenges.
Provide first aid or assistance in case of emergencies or medical issues.
Educate students on safety protocols and appropriate behavior while on the bus.
Maintain cleanliness and organization within the bus.
Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and other stakeholders regarding student needs and concerns.
Report any incidents or issues to the appropriate authorities promptly.
Skills

Experience in driving a school bus or similar vehicle is preferred.
Knowledge of senior care practices is a plus for working with elderly passengers if applicable.
Familiarity with van driving or commercial driving regulations is beneficial.
Ability to educate students on safety practices and appropriate behavior.
Multilingual or bilingual skills are highly desirable, particularly in English, to communicate effectively with diverse student populations.
Previous experience in childcare or working with children is advantageous.
Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with students and staff.
