Position Summary
Performs varied tasks involving preventative maintenance and repairs on select categories of medical devices as directed. Assists medical/nursing staff in the operation/use of equipment. Assists with maintaining equipment management program and inventories.
Qualifications/Experience
Education:
Should possess an Associate's Degree in Electronics or Biomedical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Experience:
Desirable characteristics include two years of college or technical trade school, and two years of working experience as a biomedical technician or apprentice in a health care institution.

Must report hazards and initiate appropriate action.
Must participate in safety instructional programs.
Responds to work assignments and completes work orders on schedule.
Uses available test equipment to verify operation of medical devices.
Diagnoses and resolves equipment problems and repairs.
Maintains a working knowledge required to maintain assigned equipment.
Completes documentation for work assignments promptly and accurately.
Responds to emergency calls from assigned work areas and equipment.
Assists with maintaining and updating parts inventories.
Maintains a basic knowledge of Hospital, SARH policies and procedures, and JCAHO standards that are required to perform job duties.
Contributes accurate and complete data to the equipment management program.
Other duties as assigned or delegated by a supervisor or management of the hospital.
