Records Clerks perform clerical functions, which may vary based on assignment. This customer service position assists with internal and external customers in a front counter environment as well as via email and telephone. This position also performs data entry using a records management database, physical record keeping and filing, and payment processing. Specific duties may vary based on assignment. Duties include but are not limited to reviewing documents for completeness and accuracy; retrieving a large volume of material; researching electronic, microfilmed, and paper documents; classifying, correcting, indexing, filing, storing, and scanning documents into a document /records management system.

Other duties include:

Customer service contact over the telephone, internet/e-mail, and in-person.
Operating computers to perform query and data entry functions.
Responding to information requests.
Processing registration forms and accepting legal claims against the City.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Ability to provide effective customer service in an active public counter environment.
Ability to answer a large volume of calls.
Ability to perform cash handling duties accurately.
Ability to multitask with competing priorities.
Strong computer skills and data entry skills.
Strong attention to detail in reviewing documents for completeness and accuracy.

SALARY

Pay and Hiring Range: $18.60 - $27.49 per hour.

Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

One year of clerical recordkeeping experience, including experience working with computerized records systems.
Other combinations of education and experience that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

One or more years of experience with:
- Reading, interpreting, and applying rules and regulations.
- Adobe Sign.
Two or more years of experience with:
- Microsoft suite (Microsoft outlook, excel, word).
- Providing customer service via phone and in person in a front counter environment.
- Reviewing, proof reading and/or editing legal documents and/or contracts.
- Performing cash handling and banking duties.
Records management experience.
Bilingual in the Spanish language.
Picking up and moving items weighing approximately 20 pounds or less such as mail, supplies, and files may be required.
