DescriptionAbout Us:The City of Glendale Parks and Recreation Department is split into two distinct areas:

The Parks Division manages and maintains all public parks, open spaces, trails, storm water retention basins, landscaping at municipal facilities and Thunderbird Conservation Park. The Division is also responsible for monitoring and ensuring the safety and security of park and facility use.
The Recreation Division offers opportunities to enhance the social, physical, mental and economic health of our community through a variety of diverse recreation programs and facilities. Recreation programs and events are held at the Foothills Recreation and Aquatics Center, the Glendale Adult Center, Historic Sahuaro Ranch, the five community centers and at basketball, tennis, skate courts and other recreation facilities throughout the city.

The Role:
This position will lead non-aquatic facility operations at the Foothills Recreation and Aquatic Center. Staff provides customer service at the facility, to programs, and to people of all ages and abilities.

NOTE: This is a part-time position for up to 30 hours per week. Greatest need is for early mornings, evenings, and Saturdays.

This position is:

FLSA non-exempt, and will earn overtime for any hours worked over 40 in a week.
This position has an hourly rate of $16.50.

Essential Functions

Maintain a positive City of Glendale and department image to citizens.
Learn and gain proficiency of CivicRec software. The CivicRec is the reservations and transaction tool.
Opening/unlocking the facility and prepare for customer transactions.
Perform rentals oversight including supervising other staff. This includes room rental tours, facility tours, setup, and tear down of tables and chairs for rentals and completing the rentals checklist for cleaning.
Follow safety and security procedures. Prepare professional and detailed incident, accident and other reports, and documents.
Communicate effectively with staff supervising as well as clear written communication to supervisors and other staff.
Closing Out Night Cashier which includes cash handling (dual custody, counting, verifying, and signing) and cash vault management.
Closing/locking the facility. This includes making sure the building and rental rooms are empty and making sure staff depart at least in pairs for safety.
Supervise the front desk staff.
Check on different program areas of the building by walking the building and checking in with patrons.
Ability and comfortable to working independently.
Operate a city vehicle, when needed.
Adhere to dress code and uniform policy.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Transport items as necessary to Rose Lane pool.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications/Special Requirements/Success Factors

Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Ability to:

Learn Parks and Recreation policies and regulations.
Understand and follow safe working practices.
Communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
Handle hostile or irate individuals.
Conduct equipment and facility checks.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and the public.

Special Requirements:

Valid Arizona driver's license.
Must be 18 years of age to drive City vehicles.
Applicants will be required to undergo drug testing prior to employment and will be subject to further drug and alcohol testing throughout their period of employment in accordance with the City of Glendale Substance Abuse policy.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Requires lifting of up to 50 pounds. Enters, exits, and operates city vehicles. Exposure to varying weather conditions; extensive walking, patrolling a City park. Occasionally encounters hostile or irate persons.
