Assistant Principal

In your role, you will be one of the lead executors of Rooted's instructional team. As our Assistant Principal, you will work in step with our School Leader, and instructional team to fulfill our school-wide vision.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

School Environment

Create, revise, + maintain restorative practices systems and structures at Rooted School
Contribute to rituals, routines, and celebrations to promote a positive and joyful school environment
Proactively respond to student behavior by designing innovative solutions to address student needsDevelop strong relationships with students, families, community members, and Rooted teammates
Meticulously maintain, monitor, and report on student data (discipline, culture, and attendance), and provide student supports in response to data
Collaborate with school counselor and Rooted teammates to effectively respond to student needs and implement behavior interventions with targeted students
Offer coaching and supports to school teammates in effective response to student behavior and the promotion of a positive educational environment
Ensure due process and legal compliance with all disciplinary actions, accurately document all school communication and responses to discipline
Actively engage in creating a strong school culture. Every team member is responsible for helping establish Rooted's culture among students, partners, and the community-at-large

Student Support
Provide Leadership and direction to teachers, counselors, student support counselors for the instructional and Social emotional program commensurate with the requirements of the Indiana Department of Education, and educational needs of the students

LANGUAGE SKILLS :
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY :
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Bachelor's degree
Minimum of 3 years of teaching
