As the Director of Software Engineering on Capital One's Card Tech team, you will oversee all aspects of Card Customer Data and develop a Role Management System for our credit card customers. You will manage APIs responsible for high-traffic, sensitive customer data reads and writes. Leveraging serverless technologies and event-driven systems at scale, you will create a robust User Role Management system. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

In this role, you will:

Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product focused software engineers

Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team

Work with product leaders to define the strategy, roadmap and destination architecture

Manage a portfolio of diverse technology platforms and projects to build scalable applications that meet our customer needs

Continuously improve software engineering practices

Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies

Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions

Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community

Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 7 years' experience in software development
• At least 5 years' experience in people management

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's Degree
• 10+ years' of experience in software development
• 5+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Python, Go Lang
• 5+ years' of experience in Agile practices
• 4+ years of experience with AWS employing Multi-AZ and multi-region practices to solve for resiliency
• 2+ years experience with AWS Fargate, Lambdas and DynamoDb
• 2+ years of experience in building data applications that leverage distributed technologies (Spark, AWS Glue, Flink) to execute workflows
