Position Summary

Responsible for the evaluation, assessment, and treatment of patients according to policy and procedures. Prescribes appropriate medication and treatment, completes progress notes and patient charts. Confers with sponsoring physician on individual cases and arranges for referral of patients to specialists or other facilities. Enforces and adheres to all clinic and SARH policies and procedures, State and Federal laws and regulations.

Qualifications/Experience

Education: Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a pediatric focus is required.

Completion of an accredited Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program. Board certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP or FNP-Peds)

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in pediatric healthcare settings

Strong knowledge of pediatric pharmacology and safe medication practices with prescriptive authority in state of Arkansas

Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in pediatric healthcare settings. Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Licenses/Certificate: Licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Medical Examiners, and Board of Nursing that is active and unencumbered or restricted.

Conduct comprehensive physical exams and developmental assessments

Diagnose and treat acute and chronic pediatric conditions

Administer vaccinations and other preventive healthcare measures

Provide education and support to families on health, wellness, and disease prevention

Collaborate with pediatricians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans

Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as lab work and imaging studies

Prescribe medications and therapies appropriate for pediatric patients

Monitor and manage patient progress, adjusting care plans as needed

Maintain accurate and detailed patient records

Advise and participate in the development of pediatric healthcare policies and practices

Demonstrate appropriate awareness of suspected abuse/neglect and take measures to report suspicions.

Identify and plan for safety precautions to prevent patient injury.

Meet departmental standards and competencies as evidence by department-specific documentation.

Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired regarding person, financial, medical or employment of patients, families, and employees of SARH.

Must follow and enforce accepted safety practices for patients and SARH.

Must report hazards and initiate appropriate action.

Must participate in safety instructional programs.

Completes progress on patient's chart indicating patient status, treatment, tests ordered, and procedures performed.

Responsible for the completion of all patient medical records within required time limits.

Confers with Medical Director on individual cases when required.

Arranges for referral of patients to specialists and/or other facilities according to medical condition.

Responsible for indicating appropriate charge data and diagnosis information for accurate patient encounter forms and minimal lost charges.

Completes various medical forms and submits medical information in response to insurance companies, agencies and patient requests.

Maintains a professional working relationship with EMT's that enhances patient care.

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Ensures that all procedures are carried out according to guidelines outlined by the Medical Director.

Participates in department QM program and submits data accordingly.

Participates as committee member in the peer review of the medical charts of the clinic and assists in the development of the clinic's policies and procedures

Maintains own professional growth through the utilization of inservices and self-directed learning activities.

Determines appropriate priorities for activities based on work demand.

Demonstrates competency and knowledge in the proper technique for the ordering and administration of medications

Evaluates for age-appropriate behavior, motor skills, and physiological norms

Exhibits appropriate communication skills necessary to provide diagnosis and treatment and interpret responses to treatment

Demonstrates ability to obtain and interpret information of the patient's needs

Demonstrates competency and knowledge of age-appropriate equipment and procedures

Demonstrates ability to involve family/significant other in decision making related to plan of care

Performs additional tasks as assigned
