EDUCATION - Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed in the State of Alabama.
JOB DESCRIPTION / GENERAL SUMMARY
RN performs functions of assessing; planning, implementing and evaluating care for assigned patients on unit during shift. RN is responsible for managing all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment. RN is responsible for promotion of collaboration with all members of health care team. RN Care Team Leader develops work plan and provides clear directions and expectations for care partner.

CLINICAL
1. Performs direct patient care utilizing the nursing process:
a. Ensures patient assessments are completed on continuous and timely basis according to established policy.
b. Ensures individualized development, implementation and evaluation of each patient's plan of care in timely manner.
c. Evaluates patient outcomes to be sure they are measurable, consistent with medical expectations and mutually agreed upon by nurse, patient and significant other/family.
d. Carries out efforts to maintain patient and family satisfaction.
2. Serves as resource/role model to care partner and other health care providers.

b. Team (RN/Team Leader and Care Partner) will complete work within timeframe of assigned shift to decrease and/or eliminate overtime.
2. Equipment and Supply Management
a. Ensures equipment is charged appropriately to patient.
b. Ensures supplies are not wasted and are appropriately charged to patient.
c. Assures return of reusable equipment, properly cleaned, to appropriate place.
d. Treats equipment with care, promptly reports when equipment does not function properly.
3. Maintains overall knowledge of reimbursement as related to cost of providing care.

EXPERIENCE - Work requires one to three months orientation to acquire necessary familiarity with department and unit policies, procedures and clinical guidelines. Must possess interpersonal skills sufficient to interact with patient and families, to elicit cooperation and allay apprehensions. Must possess analytical ability to synthesize knowledge of nursing theory and practice, assessment and planning activities, technical expertise and delegation skills to provide effective nursing care for assigned patients.
