Responsible for the provision of breast-feeding education, counseling and care, telephone and outpatient consultation.
To support the mother who provides breast-feeding as infant nutritional support.
Works closely with the health care team to provide multi-disciplinary services to lactating mothers and their families.
Provides education toward planning, implementing and evaluating lactation needs of new parents and their families.
This is a non RN position.
Description
High school graduate or equivalent required.
Bachelors Degree from an accredited college preferred.
Two years of current lactation education required.
Specialty certification for assigned unit (NRP, BCLS and IBCLC) required.
Ability to observe, assesses, and record work, safety and infection control standards.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
Knowledge of HIPAA standards and regulations.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
The ability to show compassion and sensitivity for patient comfort.
