What You'll Do As a Deputy Director , you will assist the Director of Postsecondary and Workforce Education with supervision of daily operations of Florida Youth College (FYC) activities.
Provides direction, guidance and support for Career and Technical Education (CTE) in Residential Programs and the Florida Scholars Academy.
Provides technical assistance to the Director of Postsecondary Education and Project Manager.
Assists in the collaboration with FLDOE to provide support for the Florida Scholars Academy and Florida Youth College.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:

Coordinates, completes special projects, contracts, grants that assist the Director of Postsecondary and Workforce Education with expansion of programs and partnerships.
Collaborates with Project Director to monitor and maintain project budget for Florida Youth College.
Provides support and collaboration with Florida Youth College Project Director to monitor progress and report program performance outcomes.
Coordinates with respective departments, Residential, FSA regional workforce boards, educational contract providers, and juvenile justice providers, to enhance career and technical education offerings based on high wage, high demand occupations.
Assists Florida Scholars Academy in collaborating with regional workforce boards to pursue workforce development funds in addition to state-appropriated funds.
Creates career and technical education pathways for all students in residential commitment programs to earn stackable industry-recognized credentials prior to release.
Assists with promoting and sustaining CTE programs in prevention and residential facilities.
Provides direction and assistance with career exploration, interest and aptitude in Detention programs.
Develops CTE protocols that guide FSA and juvenile justice education providers in all aspects of education programming, including records transfer and transition.
Responsible for collecting industry certifications earned within the Residential facilities and prepare reports on a quarterly basis.
Facilitates involvement of business and industry in the design, delivery, and evaluation of CTE programming in juvenile justice education programs, including pre-apprenticeship and work experience programs, mentoring and job shadowing, and other strategies that lead to post release employment.
Monitors the CTE programming and transition performance of students in juvenile justice education programs and report on the results that include micro credentials to Director of Postsecondary and Workforce Education.
Supervises, oversees and monitors inventory, equipment, materials and supplies.
Builds partnerships with Career Source Boards, workforce training providers, and technical colleges and institutions to provide services to students in DJJ programs and provide job placement assistance upon return to their home communities.
Expands and establishes pathways to enroll students in high-value, short-term CTE programs that lead to credentials of value earned through Florida's technical schools and state colleges.
Effectively communicates ideas, thoughts, and directions, verbally and in writing.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Who We're Looking For We're seeking a candidate who brings not only technical expertise but also a passion for education and student success.
Our ideal candidate will have:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four years of professional experience in business administration, training and development or related field.
Two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
A master's degree is preferred and may substitute for one year of the required experience.
Three years of career and technical education experience is also preferred.
