As a journeyman-level operator, you will operate heavy equipment to maintain roads, clear snow, and perform emergency responses. This includes inspecting equipment, performing routine maintenance, and handling snow and ice removal with plows, graders, and sanders. You'll also manage snow haul operations, drainage tasks with steam generators, and contribute to infrastructure maintenance such as asphalt, concrete, and bridge repairs. Additionally, you will set up traffic control, respond to emergencies, and perform other maintenance duties as needed.

The working environment you can expect:

This position is based in Northway, Alaska, within the Tok District. Northway is a predominantly Athabascan village, that is situated in the Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge, 42 miles from the Canadian border and 50 miles southeast of Tok. Accessible via a 9-mile spur road off the Alaska Highway, it includes three dispersed settlements: Northway Junction, Northway (the airport), and the Native village located two miles to the north. Expect a dynamic, fast-paced environment with diverse responsibilities and conditions. You'll work both independently and as part of a team, often in challenging weather or terrain.
