Substitute teachers, aides, and temporary workers are at-will employees of the school district.

Substitute teachers must have one of the following:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 48 college credits or have passed a ParaProfessional Assessment
- Hold a current State of Alaska Teaching Certificate
Temporary workers are staff members who work less than 15 hours per week or hold other non-benefitted positions, such as coaches.

Hourly Rate:

Non- Certified Substitute

$18.00/hr for applicants that possess only a High School Diploma or equivalent
$20.00/hr for applicants that possess a minimum of 48 college credits or have passed a ParaProfessional Assessment

Certified Substitute

$24.00/hr for applicants that hold a current Alaska Teaching Certificate

Work Week: Substitute employees are employed on an as-needed, on-call, day-to-day basis and are not guaranteed work on a regular basis.

Benefits: There are no benefits associated with these positions.

Job Qualifications:

Must possess a high school diploma, or a minimum of 48 credit hours, or have passed a ParaProfessional Assessment to be qualified as a Non-Certified applicant.
Must possess a current Alaska Initial,Professional or Masters teacher certificate to be qualified as a Certified applicant.
Ability to understand and follow directions; maintain effective classroom management strategies by remaining engaged and aware of students, and establish effective working relationships with staff and students.

$49 for fingerprints - we accept cash, check, credit cards, or money orders

*Applicants must attend orientation and be approved by human resources prior to working.
