The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) is the nation's first state department of agriculture. The agency is devoted to the total support of agriculture in Kansas. The department works for the entire Kansas agriculture sector, including farmers, ranchers, food establishments and agribusinesses. The department is dedicated to providing support and assistance to make Kansas businesses successful and encouraging more farms, ranches and other agriculture business to expand in or relocate to Kansas.

Intern Project Duties:
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Interaction with agribusinesses, agriculture producers and state agencies identifying their future workforce needs.
Assist in agribusiness development.
Assist with engagement with stakeholders for the purpose of achieving Ag Growth Project goals.
Outreach with junior high and high school students on workforce needs of Kansas through organizations such as FFA and 4-H.
Assist in grant management and administration.
Qualifications:
Applicant must be going into his/her junior or senior year at an accredited college or university pursuing an undergraduate degree.
Ag Business and agriculture majors are preferred (not required).
Understanding of the agriculture industry, presentation skills, and basic research.
Strong communication ability (oral and written).
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work under deadlines.
Employee must have a valid Class C (or higher) Kansas driver's license or equivalent license from another state. Employee is responsible to maintain an acceptable driving record to safely drive state vehicle and be willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel normally associated with this position.
