GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The Accounts Payable Intern will assist the Accounts Payable team with the supplier invoice payment process and provide a variety of assistance to all other areas within the Accounting department as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Supports and assists the Accounts Payable area throughout the process of supplier invoices. Duties include:
Processes invoices, which includes matching invoices to appropriate purchase orders and receipts.
Reconciles and resolves vendor statements and open receipts.
Prepares and enters month end accruals and other various journal entries.
Completes and assists with special projects and other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting
Experience:
1+ years related experience or training
Licenses/Certifications:
Maintain Railroad Certifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Working knowledge of various PC based computer software packages including financial spreadsheets and word processing. Intermediate Excel.
Excellent communication and leadership skills when interacting with internal and external customers.
The applicant will have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and compute ratios and percent's.
Ability to correctly make decisions involving client issues/ problems including when to escalate the problem to a more senior consultant.
