Information Systems Assistant IT Security

The mandate of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is to promote inclusive economic, social and environmental development and support regional cooperation and integration in the Asian and Pacific region. ESCAP's role as a regional development arm of the United Nations Secretariat is to support its membership, through its analytical, normative and technical cooperation, to respond to the development priorities and changing needs of the Asian and Pacific region.

This position is located in the IT Service Management (ITSM) Unit of the Information Management, Communications and Technology Section (IMCTS), Division of Administration. The incumbent reports to the Senior Telecommunications Technical Assistant.
• Responsibilities*:
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Telecommunications Technical Assistant and the general oversight of the Chief, IT Service Management Unit (ITSMU), the incumbent is responsible to performs a wide range of IT security functions, collaborating closely with the IT Operations and Cloud team to ensure compliance with UN Secretariat's cyber security policies and standards, including:
• Assists in monitoring cyber security alerts and collaborating with IT units to implement risk mitigation measures in response to these alerts.
• Assists in implementing basic cloud security measures to safeguard ESCAP's data and resources stored in the cloud environment.
• Assists in conducting vulnerability tests to identify and mitigate potential security weaknesses.
• Collaborates with the Service Desk team to ensure IT security compliance of endpoint devices using cloud-based endpoint management solutions.
• Collaborates with Cloud DevOps team to integrate security best practices into the development and deployment processes, ensuring that security considerations are addressed throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Assists in the implementation of security controls for conference and broadcasting systems.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required. A university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or related fields is desirable. A relevant first-level university degree in combination with one year of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of three years of required experience.

Job - Specific Qualification
Cloud certifications are desirable.

Work Experience
A minimum of three years (or one year if graduated with a Bachelor's degree) of progressively responsible experience in IT Security and Network support is required.

Knowledge of Cloud based security tools, like MS Defender is desirable.

Experience in managing Microsoft Azure Active Directory (AAD) is desirable.

Experience working with the United Nations Common System is desirable.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
