Workshop - Heavy Diesel Mechanic

The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic with a minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in heavy diesel engineering. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining and repairing heavy diesel machinery.
This permanent, full-time position offers the chance to work on cutting-edge machinery and systems in a supportive, high-performing environment. Whilst you will be working Monday to Friday, some weekend and public holiday work may be involved due to operational demands.

If you've got at least four years of experience in heavy vehicle and diesel engine maintenance, along with the New Zealand recognised qualifications to match, we want to hear from you!
What You'll Be Doing

• Diagnosing and fixing engines, hydraulics, and transmissions on ship support vehicles and cargo operations equipment.
• Handling rebuilds, overhauls, and part replacements.
• Keeping machines running smoothly with regular maintenance and inspections.
• Using cutting-edge diagnostic tools to track down and solve issues.
• Sharing your technical know-how with the team.
• Staying sharp on safety and making sure every job meets the highest standards.
• Assisting the StraitNZ Bluebridge ship support workshop with maintenance and repair tasks as required.

• Level 4 Heavy Diesel Mechanic qualification or equivalent.
• At least 4 years of hands-on experience in heavy diesel engineering.
• A knack for troubleshooting engines, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
• Confidence with modern diagnostic tools and software.
• A can-do attitude, solid communication skills, and a love for teamwork.
• A valid driver's license (bonus points if you have Class 4).
