Contract Management Lead

We're seeking an experienced Contract Management Lead to take charge of our contract management function within the Infrastructure Directorate.
In this role, you will be pivotal in developing, managing, and administering professional services and construction contracts that are critical for delivering our Council's ambitious vertical and horizontal infrastructure capital works.You will manage the day-to-day operations of the contract management function, focusing on efficient project support and contract administration services that align with Council strategies and policies.

As a key member of the Programme Delivery team, you'll actively contribute to fostering a strong performance culture and help drive organisational success.Other responsibilities include:
Advise Project Managers on contract decisions, from contract choice and conditions to tender preparation, review, and post-tender negotiation.
Oversee contract processes to ensure they are fit for purpose and efficient.
Maintain and monitor contract registers for Infrastructure and Programme Delivery.
Establish a Contractor Performance Framework to evaluate supplier performance.
Ensure adherence to all council policies, legislation, and contract obligations.
Serve as the primary operational contact for contract matters within the Infrastructure Directorate.
Review and control all contract documentation, including GETS lodgement.
Contribute to building a high-performing, customer-focused team.
Foster a stakeholder and solutions-focused culture.
Support health and safety policies and strategies.
Guide Project Coordinators in supporting Infrastructure and Programme Delivery.
To be considered for the position you will have:
Relevant degree or equivalent knowledge 5+ years' experience in managing professional services and physical works contracts Strong understanding of NZ contract documentation (NZS 3910, 3915, 3916, 3917), contract law, and government procurement rules Technical knowledge of NZ standards, NZTA specifications, and Local Authority processes for roading, utility, and building projects Experienced in contract administration and GETS Knowledge of project management frameworks and practices in New Zealand Experience in delivering Local Authority roading, utility, and building projects Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent relationship-building and influencing abilities If you are ready to lead and elevate our contract management function to new heights, apply today!
