Ward Administration Officer - Medical Ward

Our Ward staff are a team through and through, and this role plays an essential role in ensuring the successful provision of patient centred care by fostering a welcoming environment for patients right from the get-go.

As a Ward Administration Officer, you will be carrying out a wide range of administrative and reception duties and providing essential support for other staff members within the team to keep the hospital functioning effectively, including but not limited to:

• Providing effective reception services - answering incoming calls, welcoming visitors to the Service
• Management of patient records/information, both electronically and in hard copy, database maintenance and ordering supplies.
• Supporting the wider service with administration tasks

Please note, our administration staff hours fall between 07:30am - 07:30pm across Monday to Sunday on a two-week rotational roster. The ability to work weekend shifts is essential to be considered for this role.

• Previous clerical administration experience
• Knowledge of office systems
• Strong computer skills
• The ability to prioritise and juggle tasks
• Excellent time management
• Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
• Experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the PSA South Island Clerical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement and the salary will be in accordance with the National Health Administration Workers Pay Scale, Band 4A which falls between Step 1 $70,970 and Step 3 $73,941 p.a pro rata dependent on relevant experience.
