It is a large, secondary level, 400-bed accredited public facility providing acute and elective care for a region of over 176,000 people.
The work of the Department is varied and often challenging.Hawke's Bay has experienced significant population growth and demographic changes over the last ten years.
A wide range of surgical, medical, oncology, and radiological services are offered, and we have outgrown many of our facilities, now requiring considerable expansion.
The next few years should be quite exciting!In addition, the private health care sector in Hawke's Bay is expanding rapidly, offering opportunities for many health professionals to broaden their practice.
