This role is predominately working within Inpatients at Te Nikau Hospital, while supporting Community services across the West Coast within a dynamic & cohesive Social Work team ensuring the transition from home to hospital and back home again is well supported.The West Coast is renowned for its beauty, wilderness and outdoor activity opportunities, the people of the West Coast area are resilient with a strong Community spirit.To find out more about living and working here on the Coast visit here.About the RoleAs a Social Worker you will be responsible for providing appropriate and effective psychosocial assessment, intervention, monitoring and evaluation to clients.
Whilst no day is the same, typically you will mostly be in the General Ward (Medical/Surgical/Rehab) alongside other health professionals with clients of all ages, supporting them and their whānau through their health journey.
You will advocate, provide emotional care, and practical solutions to clients.It is essential that you have:
NZ registration and current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)Eligibility/work visa to work in NZA current full NZ drivers' licenceMinimum 3 years' experienceExcellent communication - listening, verbal and writtenProven ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretionProven ability to work autonomously as well as within a teamCompetency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthAbility to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and meet deadlinesCommitment to ongoing self-development and Allied Health service developmentExperience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settingsDesirable:
