Reporting to our Executive Director MHAID, this very broad role leads a team of multidisciplinary leaders, service managers, and specialists across our geographically and demographically diverse region.
This is a very tangible opportunity to make a real difference in key areas of health service design and delivery.About the Team/Service/LocationTe Whatu Ora - Southern has the largest geographical coverage of all the New Zealand regions, providing services to 350,000 people in diverse communities.

Demonstrate high levels of strategic and operational leadership and intellectual bandwidthAre known as a resilient and visionary leader among your peersHave a track record of ownership and accountability in programme and change management, and quality improvementKnow how to get the best from dispersed teams and manage through othersBring drive and tenacity for performance excellence and improved measurable resultsHave strong financial acumen, including the ability to build strong business cases based on evidence and analysis and manage a large operational budgetAre an exemplary relationship builder with a positive, solutions-oriented outlookCompetency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthExperience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settingsWhile not essential, experience in mental health or a health-related discipline would be beneficial.Working for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
