Chef Temporary Contract

Wynyard Pavilion is on the lookout for some Temp chefs till February 2024.
Pay: $27 per hour with a $500 completion bonus at the end of the contract to work along the waterfront during summer.
Applicants must have either an open work visa, residency, or citizenship. We cannot support anyone for a work visa in this role.
Responsibilities Customer Service
Speak to customers in a courteous manner and attend to their needs promptly.
Ensure any food-related customer complaints are recorded via a customer complaint form and reported to the Head Chef.
Financial Management
Follow systems, policies, and procedures to keep costs under control, including:
Portion control
Using and following recipes
Using set suppliers
Controlling waste
Receiving goods
Food Preparation
Use and follow recipes to prepare food.
Use forecasting and production records to ensure portion control and prevent waste.
Serve food that is safe to eat.
Maintain order and cleanliness of the kitchen's facilities.
General
Assist the team (BOH and FOH) as needed.
Perform other duties for the efficient running of the business.
Maintain confidentiality regarding staff matters and financial information.
Communicate ideas and strategies to the Head Chef for improving operations.
Review work procedures to improve service, performance, and safety.
Communicate with the Head Chef and attend regular meetings.
Clock in and out of every shift.
Ensure high cleanliness and organisation levels.
Complete tasks assigned by senior management.
Health and Safety
Operate equipment safely and report any faults to management.
Monitor compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation.
Follow health and safety policies to maintain a safe workplace.
Understand emergency and safety procedures.
Ensure security procedures are followed by all staff.
Maintain the food control plan.
People and Culture
Report staff performance or conduct concerns to the Head Chef.
Live by the company's mission, vision, and values.
Lead by example and demonstrate professionalism.
Communicate effectively with customers and team members.
Supervise and train kitchen employees as assigned.
Professional Development
Take responsibility for personal and professional development with support from the Head Chef.

Stock Ordering / Management
Manage stock rotation and storage per company policy.
Monitor and record chemical levels and use.
Knowledge and Experience
Experience with food preparation and kitchen operations.
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and costs.
Basic knowledge of customer service principles.
Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, and procedures.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of food production techniques and kitchen cleaning methods.
Qualifications
NZ Register Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2). At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications.
