This post will involve the assessment of Adults and Children. The department works closely with the ENT department. We provide a comprehensive service to over 50 consultants covering such areas as Neurosurgery, Neurology, Oncology, Autoimmune diseases.

Responsibilities:

To attend at such times and places as may be fixed by the Chief Audiologist of the Unit or designated officer (by the Chief Executive) and to remain in attendance there as long as his/her services are required.
To carry out his/her duties under the supervision and control of the Chief Audiologist.
To carry out the duties of a Audiologist in the hospital and at such other locations as may be required by the Chief Audiologist or designated officer.
To keep such records appropriate to his/her office as he/she may be required.
To carry out the full range of diagnostic and audiometric testing for adult and paediatric patients.
To manage and report on workload assigned in accordance with the priorities and standards laid down.
To co-operate in the training of medical students and other staff as required.
To manage and administer the resources available to the position in the most efficient and effective manner possible, and report on usage of same.
To participate, as required, in the development and operation of the various hospital administrative, operational and planning systems and processes.
To perform such other duties appropriate to the office as may from time to time be assigned by the Chief Audiologist or designated officer.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have at the latest date of application:

Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc

Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:

(A)
- Hold the two year full time M.Sc.in Audiology awarded by the National University of Ireland, University College Cork at Level 9 on the Quality and Qualifications of Ireland (QQI) framework, which includes a licence to practice clinical audiology in Ireland
- Hold an equivalent qualification in Audiology awarded in another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health (An Roinn Sláinte) (See Note 1* below)
(B)
Hold the BSc (Hons) in Audiology awarded by Athlone Institute of Technology awarded in 2016 only, at Level 8 on the Quality and Qualifications of Ireland (QQI) framework.
(C)
Candidates currently working as an Audiologist or Audiological Scientist within the Irish Health System must hold:
- a qualification equivalent to (A) above
- The British Association of Audiologists Examinations Parts 1 & 2 (or its predecessor)
- A qualification equivalent to (C), (a), (b).
(D)
Candidates must provide evidence of audiological competence relevant to the scope of practice required for the role. (See Note 2* below)
(E)
Candidates who did not complete the required studies through the medium of English must demonstrate their proficiency in the English language through the submission of certification from the International English Language Testing System [IELTS]. An overall score of 7.00 is required with a minimum of Reading 6.5, Writing 7, Listening 6.5, and Speaking 7.
(F)
Candidates must possess the requisite Audiological competency, professional knowledge experience, and ability (including a high standard of suitability and administrative ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

Health: A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

Character: Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

Desirable: An interest or experience of Vestibular assessments is desirable.
