The climate adaptation team are an award-winning team that sits within the Environment and Energy Unit at the GLA. We are a fast-moving, policy lead team, focused on creating real change by working with partners across London.

The team are looking for a project manager with experience in working on climate adaptation and well as project management skills.

About the role

London is one of 40 regions selected to take part in the European Union’s (EU) Pathways2Resilience programme, which supports European cities and regions to plan for climate impacts like sea level rise, floods and heatwaves. This innovative programme is an opportunity to trial a new approach to adaptation in the UK, bringing together key actors for climate adaptation to shape our vision for a resilient London where vulnerable communities are protected. The London consortium for this programme is made up of the Greater London Authority (GLA) and London Councils.

Through this programme we will develop a cross-sector strategic vision for a resilient London, an action plan and a climate resilience investment plan. By April 2026, London will have a robust and actionable strategy for keeping Londoners safe from climate change, with defined roles and responsibilities across sectors and levels of government.

It will deliver against recommendations from the London Climate Resilience Review, aim to address key barriers for London and place a strong emphasis on community engagement.
• You’ll be responsible for overseeing the implementation and progress of the programme in London, as well as the coordination of different regional functions and actors that will need to get involved in Pathways2Resilience.
• You’ll ensure that the programme’s objectives are met.
• You’ll be the main point of contact for the Pathways2Resilience team and stakeholders. This will involve managing training, reporting and the 121-support offer from the EU Pathways2Resilience team, as well as working with others who will support you to deliver the outputs.

What your day will look like
• Manage the day-to-day activities of the workstreams to progress and to deliver the required outputs and outcomes of the programme
• Being the key point of contact for the London region for partners and stakeholder, and liaising with the EU Pathways2Resilience team to ensure objectives are met.
• Manage the training and support offer from the EU’s Pathways2Resilience team and ensure learnings and outcomes are shared across the London consortium.
• Lead and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure that stakeholders understand the outcomes and benefits of the programme.
• Preparation of engaging, clear and concise information about climate adaptation and resilience and presenting this to different stakeholders, represent the project to external audiences.

Skills, knowledge and experience
• To be considered for the role you must meet the following essential criteria:
• Project management skills and experience, and ability to ensure initiatives are delivered to agreed targets and timescales.
• Understanding of climate adaptation in the UK, ideally with a London focus.
• Ability to present complex information to different stakeholders, at all levels of an organisation, and make it understandable.
• Strong research, analytical and written skills and demonstrable ability to utilise these to assess, interpret, and present ideas, data, and information.
• Understanding of, and a commitment to, equality of opportunity and serving diverse communities, and the ability to apply this in a projects role
