Programming Assistant

You'll assist in the delivery of a programme of activities for both school and family visitors. You will deliver outdoor workshops such as Map Reading and River Studies as well as seasonal events such as Easter, Summer of Play and Christmas. By doing so, you'll help to create an enjoyable experience for everyone that visits and help them understand more about our place.

Salary: £5,121.60/ £11.64 an hour

Duration: Fixed Term until 28 February 2026

Interview date : Monday 3rd February 2025

Hours: 440 hours a year.This is an annualised contract which means your hours and days of work will change each month. You will need to work approximately one weekend per month, and your working patterns within term-time week days will be dependent on school bookings.

This role is required to work with vulnerable groups including children and any offer of employment or volunteering is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

Reporting to our Experience & Visitor Programming Manager, you'll work with a team of passionate and creative staff and volunteers at Quarry Bank.

This former cotton mill was built in 1784 and is one of Britain's greatest industrial heritage sites. The busy estate hosts many schools' programmes and events, which help bring Quarry Bank's fascinating story to life. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an inspiring location and the team pride themselves on being dynamic, highly motivated and passionate people.

What you'll be doing

Working with the team you'll deliver events and activities that bring our place to life for our visitors all year round.Understanding how and why we engage our supporters is key. You'll help link everything we do back to our cause and the on-going work we do.

You will be delivering outdoor learning sessions to school groups and so a passion for nature and the outdoors is key.

You will demonstrate a passion for people, with excellent customer service skills and a high standard of presentation.

Working directly with volunteers and staff across departments, you will demonstrate your ability to work collaboratively as part of a large and varied property team.
