The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) is the main provider of acute and specialist care services in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. It serves a population of around 570,000 people, a figure that can increase significantly with visitors during the busiest times of the year. Employing approximately 6,700 staff and have a budget of approximately £580 million.
A teaching hospital in partnership with the University of Exeter Medical School, University of Plymouth School of Nursing and Midwifery, and Peninsula Dental School.
Keeping at the forefront of medical advances, continually developing clinical services as well as facilities and are committed to maximising the range of specialist care that can be offered locally. Allied to this is a growing reputation for research and innovation.
Their 10-year strategy, ‘Outstanding Care for One and All’ set out ambitions for the future, including a flagship Women and Children’s Hospital, part of the national New Hospitals Programme. It represents the biggest ever single investment in healthcare in Cornwall and is due for complete in 2028.
As the Director of Midwifery, you will be at the forefront of delivering safe, compassionate, high-quality care while working as part of the perinatal quadrumvirate to align strategic and operational goals and ensuring that our maternity services remain 'good' as rated by the CQC.
Your leadership will shape the professional development of midwives, advocate for the highest standards of care for our women and birthing people and drive the continuous improvement of our services.
You will provide professional leadership, guiding our services with compassion and excellence and working with key stakeholders such as the Maternity & Neonatal Voices Partnership, local and regional systems fostering a positive culture of safety and learning.
The ideal candidate will have experience driving strategic change and fostering an inclusive, positive work culture, along with exceptional communication skills to motivate and inspire teams to deliver outstanding care.
