We're working with an award-winning engineering consultancy that has specialised in providing sustainability, design, and building services solutions for over 20 years in the healthcare, residential, and commercial sectors.

Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has presented itself to be the first employee in their new Madrid office. As the office lead, you'll have the autonomy to shape the team and the direction of the business, with significant opportunities for professional growth; this is a unique chance to truly build something from the ground up and leave your mark on the Spanish market. This role suits a Senior/Associate Director-level Mechanical Engineer, who enjoys client-facing activities, winning new business, and bringing on exciting new project opportunities.

What You'll Be Doing:

You'll be the face of the business in Spain, establishing the Madrid office and building a team to deliver innovative engineering solutions.
Drive business development, identify new project opportunities, and build client relationships to grow the company's footprint in the Spanish market.
Ensure the successful delivery of mechanical engineering projects, particularly in renewables and sustainability, while adhering to Spanish regulations.
Decide the strategic direction for the Spanish team, ensuring alignment with the overall business goals while creating a local vision.
Work closely with colleagues across Europe to leverage expertise and drive innovative, sustainable solutions.

What We're Looking For:

A strong background in mechanical engineering, ideally with a focus on renewables and sustainability.
At least 5 years of experience operating in Spain, with a sound knowledge of local regulations and business practices.
The ability to identify and develop new opportunities, with a keen understanding of client needs and market trends.
Charisma, drive, and the ability to inspire and lead a team. You'll need to have the mindset of building something from scratch and owning its success.
Native Spanish and business-level English proficiency.
Experience with sustainable mechanical solutions and certifications (e.g., LEED, BREEAM) is highly desirable.
