Housing Equity and Adaptation for Tenants HEAT

The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education.
ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level.
Research is organized in five programs:
Climate, Air Pollution, Nature and Urban Health; Environment and Health over the Lifecourse; Global Viral and Bacterial Infections; Malaria and Neglected Parasitic Diseases and Maternal Child and Reproductive Health.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR ISGlobal is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with leadership skills and experienced in project management to work on the HEAT (Housing Equity and Adaptation for Tenants) project.
The HEAT project has received funding from the Canadian Government and its New Frontiers in Research Fund (2023 International Joint Initiative for Research in Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation).
HEAT is a multi-country, multidisciplinary effort with data collection hubs in Vancouver/Canada, New York/USA, and Barcelona/Spain.
In all three cities, HEAT aims to better understand the interplay between the health, housing and climate crises for older individuals .
In Barcelona, New York City, and Vancouver, HEAT pursues four aims:

To measure indoor environmental quality and its impact on health;
To implement and evaluate in-building communal 'climate safe' rooms;
To monitor the unintended outcomes of climate adaptation and mitigation policies on tenancy;
To identify mechanisms that may lead to climate-related rent increases or displacement.
The postdoctoral researcher will manage and support the work conducted out of Barcelona, Spain, and will closely work with the Principal Investigators Margarita Triguero-Mas and Sarah Koch to oversee the overall scientific and technical progress of the project.
The job is funded through the Canadian Government and its New Frontiers in Research Fund.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES Co-lead the analysis of unintended health outcomes of climate adaptation/mitigation policies (and their mechanisms)
Coordinate the communication and collaboration with community research partners in Barcelona (i.e.
active role in the establishment and maintenance of the participatory action research side of the project)
Participate in multi-country meetings (with Canada and the US) to collaborate in the identification and analysis of how health is affected by climate change, housing and aging.
Assist supervision of project field workers and student assistants, including overseeing and coordinating - if needed - their work in all research aims.
Lead and participate in data analyses and manuscript writing
Participate in project dissemination and communication activities
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
PhD in Geography, Public Health, Sustainability/Environmental sciences, Environmental Justice or related disciplines.
Experience in transdisciplinary/interdisciplinary work (particularly bridging the gap between social sciences and medical sciences).
Experience in participatory action research
Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative analyses
Experience in co-leading/co-supervising/co-coordinating research work

SELECTION PROCESS The selection process is designed in two phases:

1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation.
To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed, any technical test could be passed.
A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview.
