This position reports to
BL Technology Manager, Mining

Your role and responsibilities
As a Senior Programmer at ABB, your primary responsibility will be to develop and optimize software using C#, with a particular focus on multimedia processing through FFmpeg.
You will play a key role in enhancing and maintaining the ABB 800xA system, ensuring it meets the highest standards of performance and reliability.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing system architectures and driving software projects from concept to completion.
This includes developing and integrating web services (APIs, REST, gRPC) to ensure seamless operation within industrial automation systems.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential to achieve project goals and ensure that quality, scope, and cost targets are met.
You will manage knowledge documentation, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and innovation within the team.
Safeguarding intellectual property (IP) will also be a critical aspect of your role, where you will manage IP risks and ensure that ABB's strategic position in the market is strengthened.
Throughout all your tasks, you will utilize best practices in software development, including version control, testing, and continuous integration.

Qualifications for the role

• To excel as a Senior Programmer at ABB, you should hold a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  Your background should include extensive experience in C# programming, with a deep understanding of FFmpeg for multimedia processing.
  
• Success in this role requires a strong foundation in system architecture and design.
  You should have a proven track record of independently managing and executing complex software projects, from initial concept through to deployment.
  Experience with the ABB 800xA system or similar industrial automation systems will be highly advantageous, allowing you to effectively maintain and enhance system performance.
  
• You should also bring proficiency in developing web services, including APIs, REST, and gRPC, as well as solid experience with SQL databases.
  Familiarity with tools like Git and DevOps practices will enable you to manage software development processes efficiently and collaboratively.
  
• We value candidates who demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive, innovative approach.
